It Takes Volunteers to be Successful

Contact soccer@srya.org if you are interested in volunteering with the program.  We are always in need of help keep our program the best in the county.

In accordance with SRYA policy, the state of Maryland, and Anne Arundel County ALL volunteers MUST be current on their certifications.  A list of certifications can be found HERE.

As a token of appreciation for your time as a volunteer in one of the positions listed below, you will receive free soccer registrations for ALL of your children participating in SRYA Soccer.

Positions marked "Vacant" mean the current volunteer is retiring soon.  We try to backfill as quickly as possible so that we are able to train the new volunteers.

Position Descriptions

  • Awards/Trophies Manager: VACANT
    • Responsible for ordering clinic participation trophies and county/travel plaques in advance of the end of the season.
    • Facilitates (finds parental volunteers) to sort trophies and plaques.
    • Once sorted, contacts the coaches to pick up trophies and/or plaques from volunteer's house.
  • Uniform Manager - VACANT
    • Responsible for ordering and maintaining inventory of game jerseys, shorts, and socks for clinic and county program.
    • Works closely with Clinic and County coordinators and Soccer Commissioner to budget and order uniforms.
  • Equipment Manager - FILLED
    • Responsible for ordering and maintaining proper level of inventory of balls, ball bags, discs, pinnies, first aid kits, ice packs, benches, and other items for soccer program.
    • Schedules "Equipment Day" to hand out equipment to coaches prior to practices beginning each season.
    • Reaches out to retired coaches who have not returned their SRYA equipment.
    • Works closely with Soccer Commissioner and treasurer to budget and order supplies.
  • Field Operations Manager - VACANT
    • You are free to assemble your own teams to work the fields.
    • Responsible for field maintenance (mowing/trimming) for all fields SRYA Soccer uses.  (SRYA provides the tractors and gas).
      • Mowing is best done by a team of volunteers.  The Field Operations Manager can "recruit" help from soccer families.  It is not expected that the Field Operations Manager does it all by themselves, but acts as a backup to the team and manages the team to ensure fields are ready for the season and before each weekend.
      • Mowing Bermuda fields is done 3x a week.
      • Mowing volunteers are paid a stipend for their time.
    • Responsible for season field set up (lining) of all SRYA soccer fields.
      • Lining is best done by a team of volunteers.
      • The Field Operations Manager can "recruit" help from soccer families.  It is not expected that the Field Operations Manager does it all by themselves, but acts as a backup to the team and manages the team to ensure fields are ready for the season and before each weekend.
      • Set up volunteers are paid a stipend for their time.
    • Responsible for ongoing lining of all SRYA soccer fields during playing seasons.
      • Lining is best done by a team of volunteers.  The Field Operations Manager can "recruit" help from soccer families.  It is not expected that the Field Operations Manager does it all by themselves, but acts as a backup to the team and manages the team to ensure fields are ready for the season and before each weekend.
      • Lining is done every Friday in advance of weekend games.
      • Lining volunteers are paid a stipend for their time.
    • Places goals in place prior to each season, removes them and locks them up after each season is over.
    • Works with the Soccer Commissioner to order paint for lining the soccer fields.
    • Escalates all field/park issues to President of SRYA, Athletic Director, and Soccer Commissioner.
    • Responsible for maintenance of SRYA tractors and equipment used on the soccer fields.
      • Routine maintenance such as oil changes, blade sharpening, belt replacement (as needed) can be done by the Field Operations Manager if they desire or taken to a local tractor shop.
    • Field Operations Manager will work closely with the Clinic Coordinator, County Coordinator, and Soccer Commissioner on field playability due to weather, but is the primary decision point.
  • High School Soccer Liaison - VACANT
    • Works closely with South River and in some cases Southern High School soccer coaches to plan their summer training camps.
    • Requests high school turf for high school summer training camps (sends email to SRYA President).
    • Works with SRYA webmaster to have summer program opened in SRYA registration system.
    • Submits expense reports (no money laid out) to Soccer Commissioner.
    • Closes out summer program financials at the end of every summer.
  • Clinic Coordinator - FILLED
    • Responsible for managing the SRYA Clinic Soccer program for players ages 4-7.
    • Coordinator will identify coaches, build teams, and set practice and game schedules.
    • Coordinator will be responsible for daily operations of clinic including cancellation of practices and postponement/rescheduling of games.
    • Coordinator will communicate with the SRYA Soccer clinic families and address family questions as they pertain to SRYA Clinic Soccer.
    • The Clinic Coordinator is a member of the Soccer Board of Directors.
  • County Coordinator - VACANT
    • Responsible for managing SRYA Soccer County program for players ages 8-17.
    • Coordinator will work with commissioner to identify coaches, build teams, and set practice schedules.
    • Coordinator will ensure team rosters and player contracts are completed.
    • Coordinator will attend AAYSA County Soccer meetings.
    • Coordinator will communicate with the SRYA County Soccer families and address family questions as they pertain to SRYA Clinic Soccer.
    • The County Coordinator is a member of the Soccer Board of Directors.
  • Travel Coordinator - FILLED
    • Responsible for managing travel program for players ages 8-17.
    • Coordinator will work with SRYA Commissioner to identify coaches, build teams, and set practice schedules.
    • Coordinator will ensure team rosters and player contracts are completed.
    • Coordinator will attend MSYSA and League Soccer meetings.
    • Coordinator will communicate with the travel families and address family questions as they pertain to SRYA Travel Soccer.
    • The Travel Coordinator is a member of the Soccer Board of Directors.
  • Soccer Commissioner - FILLED
    • Overall responsibility for SRYA soccer program success.
    • Responsible for annual budget for SRYA Soccer.
    • Approves all Soccer expenditures.
    • Works closely with all members of the SRYA soccer volunteer staff.
    • The Soccer Commissioner is a member of the Soccer Board of Directors.
