SRYA's County Soccer program is one of the largest, most popular and very successful programs in Anne Arundel County.  SRYA has teams for players ages 8 -17. Age is determined by the birth year of the player during the Fall season.  Soccer runs from Fall to Spring, so for Spring 2019, age group is determined by the birth year in Fall 2018.  Consult the age group matrix if you have questions.

We expect to have many teams across all age brackets in the AAYSA (Anne Arundel Youth Soccer Association) league for upcoming season.  Visit AAYSA soccer page for information regarding the upcoming season

Participation

SRYA County Soccer is a gender-specific experience for young players to continue to develop their soccer skills.

Uniforms

All SRYA County players are required to purchase and wear the following uniform:

  • Blue SRYA jersey
  • Blue SRYA shorts (order one size up - they tend to be tight)
  • Blue SRYA socks

You may order these on the registration form.

All players in U8 through U18 MUST buy new blue game jerseys.  If you fail to purchase a blue game jersey you will be ineligible to play in games until you have a new blue game jersey.

All sales are final

Fees

SRYA Soccer works diligently to keep fees low while providing well-equipped, well-maintained fields for the players and coaches.  SRYA County Soccer fee is $110 per player.  SRYA is proud to provide the lowest soccer fees in the surrounding area! Fees subject to change without notice

Because SRYA's Soccer program is one of the most popular in Anne Arundel County, there is a large administrative burden placing almost 550 children on rosters, so to make things bearable on our County Coordinator and promote early registrations (and help you save a couple $), SRYA offers an early bird saving of $10 per registration on registrations made January 1 to January 31 for the Spring season.  For the Fall season early bird discount ends June 30th.    Likewise, we need to assess a late fee to those registrations made after February 28th for the Spring season and July 31st for the Fall season .  Regular fees apply during the month of February for the Spring season and July for the Fall season.

All discounts, fees, savings are applied during checkout.

Due to the large nature of the program, refunds are not available.

County Forms

Anne Arundel County Park and Recreation requires each player/parent to hand sign the player registration form.  Mom or Dad will need to do this before the beginning of every soccer season.  We have programmed the system to pre-populate the form so all you need to do is sign your signature over the electronic signature.  Here are instructions on how to download and print the AA County Player Registration Form.

Practices

SRYA County Soccer practices are held twice a week, in the evenings, either on a Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday schedule.  Practices are for 1 1/2 hours.  The practice days and duration are determined by the volunteer coach.

All practices are held at Riva Park with overflow held at South River High School.

Practices will begin, weather dependent, in late February or early March for the Spring season and August for the Fall season.  All players should bring water and are required to wear shin guards to all practices.  Cleats are optional but recommended.

Note:  It takes an average of 3 hours per field to lay it out, measure it, square it up and line it.  Currently, SRYA manages 14 - 16 fields, so it takes the field crew of volunteers 3-4 weekends of volunteer time away from their family and family events (like going on vacation to the beach) to lay down the fields.  Goals will be placed on the fields after all the fields have been lined.  Our goal is to have the fields lined 3 weeks prior to games beginning and goals in place by 2 weeks (guarantee 1 week) prior to games beginning.  Your patience with this process is greatly appreciated.

Games

Games are scheduled by AAYSA and are played generally on Sunday afternoons.  However, there will be double-header weekends with games on Saturday and Sundays.  Under 12 teams play Friday nights under the lights.

The Spring soccer season begins in late March (weather dependent) and concludes by June 15th.

Rewarding Our volunteer Coaches

SRYA Soccer is aware that the success of our program rides squarely on the shoulders of our volunteers.  That is why SRYA Soccer will provide a volunteer coach one (1) free soccer registration each soccer season they coach provided they obtain and maintain current a US Soccer License.

For example, a County coach will receive a free soccer registration when the coach completes the US Soccer Grassroots online course:

  • U8 - U10:  Grassroots 7v7 course
  • U11 - U12: Grassroots 7v7 and 9v9 course
  • U13 - U18: Grassroots 7v7 and 9v9 and 11v11 course

The minimal fees charged by US Soccer are the responsibility of the coach.

Special Requests

Due to the large number of families with children in soccer, it is not possible to accommodate special requests from parents.  If you have a special request you need accommodated, you will need to volunteer.  The only way to guarantee your special request is to volunteer as a coach.  Did we mention we need more volunteer coaches?
