Jersey and skirt are an additional fee of $30 per piece for all players. 1st and 2nd grade are only required to have the top. Please note these uniforms are ordered ahead of the season to ensure delivery by the first county game, your early registration prior to February ensures the correct size to match your registration. This is the same uniform worn for Field Hockey and years past.
Clinic players will be issued an SRYA lacrosse shirt and do not need to purchase a uniform.
Clinic
Where the love of lacrosse begins! This skills-based group focuses on fundamentals, teamwork, and fun - teaching the game through creative drills and play. Toward the end of the season, players will jump into a friendly game to put their new skills to the test!
Clinic participants must be enrolled in pre-k (entering kindergarten in the 2026-27 school year) or enrolled in kindergarten in Spring 2026.
Parents can expect 1 practice a week on Wednesdays beginning April 8th. We aim to wrap up our clinic season by Memorial Day.
Parent helpers are going to be crucial in running this group, no lacrosse experience necessary. Please indicate on the registration if you would like to coach as a lead or if you would be willing to assist in helping.
No uniform is needed, girls will be given a SRYA lacrosse shirt for their participation!
Sticklettes (1st & 2nd Grades)
Teams will be leveled by age/experience & we will make best efforts to put friends together based upon requests. Practices will be 2x a week starting in mid-March. All sticklette teams will be participating within county play this season. Games are typically once a week on Saturdays beginning in early April.
Pee-Wees, Middies, Juniors League Structure (3rd - 8th Grade)
Practices will start around the end of February/beginning of March (weather dependent). Pee-Wee coaches will contact registered players with the exact day, time, and field location around mid-February; Middie & Junior teams will be placed on teams following evaluations.
Practice pinnies will be distributed at the start of the season & collected at the end of the season.
PEE-WEES (3rd & 4th grades)
Pee-Wee games are played on Turf (sideways across the field). Teams will be decided by first requests (coach/teammate), then practice schedule requests, then based on grade-level/experience. Pee-Wee teams practice x2 a week with a game played on the weekend. Games are typically Saturdays but can also be Sunday. Coaches will reach out to the roster team at the end of February.
MIDDIES & JUNIORS (5th through 8th grades)
Players are placed on teams based on their skill and experience level. Requests for coaches, teammates, or practice days cannot be accommodated.
Attendance at evaluations is critical for all 5th through 8th grade players for proper team placement. If your player does not attend evaluations, they will be placed with the lowest level team by default. Commissioners will make all final decisions about team placement to ensure SRYA adheres county rules and that your player is playing at an appropriate level of competition.
Evaluations (Middies & Juniors 5th - 8th Grade)
All Junior & Middie players must attend noted evaluation sessions.
Evaluations will be held Sunday, Feb 22nd 2025
Middie (1-3pm) and Junior (3-5pm) players at South River High School (outside, turf field).
Additional evaluations will be held the week of Feb 23-27th. Players will need to be at two out of the three opportunities this week in addition to Sunday, February 22nd, making three total evaluations. Players will be evaluated and placed on the team that best fits their skill level as determined by the evaluators, coaches, and commissioners.
Registered players will be notified via email as to specific details regarding team placement. Please note: some player shifts may occur to account for skill levels.
Equipment (all age groups)
Players must have/provide the following equipment:
- Girls/Womens Lacrosse Stick (no fiddlesticks or boys lacrosse stick)
- Colored Mouth Guard (no straps attached to goggles)
- Eye Goggles (specifically for girls lacrosse)
- Cleats/Sneakers
All equipment is required for practice and games. PLAYERS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PLAY IN GAMES OR PRACTICE WITHOUT THEM.
Coaching & Volunteering
We are always looking for qualified and enthusiastic coaches to volunteer their time to help with our teams. Head coaches will receive complimentary registration for their player and assistant coaches will receive half off the registration fee for their player. The more coaches we have the more players we can have with increased playing time and opportunity to learn the sport. If you are interested in coaching at ANY level please fill out the coaching registration via team snap and complete your AACo background check HERE.
SRYA adheres to Anne Arundel County rules and focuses on promoting fair play, good sportsmanship, fundamental skill, and play development. As mandated by the county, all players at all levels will have the opportunity to enjoy 50% play time per game, roster size permitting. Between the weekly practices and the games, players will have plenty of opportunity to learn more about this fast-moving sport.
