Sports that we offer

Baseball

The SRYA baseball program educates our youth to play and compete in a dependable, suitable, and proper manner.  The baseball program offers 3 levels of play depending on age and skill level:

  • Clinic: T-Ball (Ages 4-6) & Coach Pitch (Ages 6-8)
  • County: Player Pitch at 10U, 12U, 15U, & 18U
  • Travel: For elite athletes.  Offered at various age groups and requires tryouts for placement

The SRYA basketball program provides numerous benefits for our youth including cardiovascular health, hand-eye coordination, agility, teamwork, discipline, and work ethic.  SRYA's basketball season begins with evaluations in November.

The SRYA Cheer program is an introductory program for all children interested in dance, fitness, and fun.  We believe that every child that wants to be a cheerleader, should be! We offer two levels:

Field Hockey

SRYA is proud to offer an exciting and competitive field hockey program.  Field hockey provides participants numerous benefits including mental agility, teamwork, increased confidence, and building self esteem.  Field hockey runs during the fall sports season.  All levels and ages welcome in our various field hockey levels:

  • Sticklettes (K-2)
  • Pee Wees (3rd-4th)
  • Middies (5th-6th)

Lacrosse

SRYA lacrosse prides itself on ensuring that players have fun and learn the fundamentals of Maryland's favorite sport.  We offer this fast-paced, exciting game at grade-appropriate levels for girls and boys.  The format structure varies for boys and girls lax, but the sport is generally available for players in grades PreK through 8th grade, through a local area co-operative, clinic format, or Anne Arundel Rec and Parks leagues.

Soccer

SRYA Soccer is one of the largest, most popular, well respected soccer programs in Anne Arundel County.  We offer various levels of soccer education for boys and girls ages 3 to 18.  The program has served as the foundation for countless numbers of players who have reached the pinnacle of youth soccer.  Register for one of our fall or spring seasons to gain a better understanding of the beautiful game.

The SRYA football program offers opportunities for players from 4 up to 14 years old.  Both tackle and flag options are available.  The football program strives to teach players the basics of the game and how to play it safely.    SRYA offers the following divisions:

  • Ages 4-7 eligible for flag football
  • Ages 6-15 eligible for tackle football
  • Registration opens March 1
  • Tackle participates in the AAYFA

One of the newest programs in SRYA, Rugby is played in the summer and allows a fantastic opportunity for children to learn one of the fastest rising sports in America.  Our touch rugby program is co-ed and offered for the following levels:

SRYA Softball is a recreational girls fastpitch softball program.  We are committed to teaching quality fastpitch softball and focus on the fundamentals of the sport while teaching the latest softball skills and techniques.  We offer teams in the following age groups:

  • 6U (ages 4-6)
  • 8U (ages 7-8)
  • 10U (ages 9-10)
  • 12U (ages 11-12)
  • 14U (ages 13-14)
  • HSE (High School Eligible 15-19)

Running

The SRYA Running Program offers cross country in the fall and track in the spring.  This is a coed, clinic-styled program designed for 3rd-8th graders.  Running provides participants with a mix of strength, endurance, and flexibility training along with a spirit of hard work and support of our teammates.  Athletes will have the opportunity to participate in timed competitions throughout the season.

Wrestling

SRYA Wrestling is devoted to the development of wrestlers for both boys and girls from the ages of 4-15.  We focus on the fundamentals of one of the oldest sports in the world.  Wrestling is a 1 v 1 sport that teaches self-reliance and responsibility.

  • Practices are at South River High School
  • Wrestlers are separated based on experience
  • A Team, November - March
  • B Team, December - February
