It Takes Volunteers to be Successful

In accordance with SRYA Policy, the state of Maryland, and Anne Arundel County volunteers must have the following:

Coach, Assistant Coach, Trainer, Manager
Board Member

When you complete your requirements, register as a Volunteer and you will be asked to provide the dates for each requirement. 

Position Descriptions

  • Awards/Trophies Manager:
    • Responsible for ordering, sorting, and distributing trophies/awards for clinic and county players.  
    • Time involved (8 hours/season: ordering – 2 hours, distribution – 6 hours.
  • Equipment Manager:
    • Responsible for inventory, ordering, and distribution of balls, cones, pinnies, goals, corner flags, field paint and other items for soccer program.  Works closely with soccer commissioner and treasurer to budget and order supplies.     
    • Time involved (10 hours/season): inventory – 1 hour, ordering – 1 hour, storing – 2 hours, distribution – 6 hours.
  • Field Manager:
    • Responsible for field maintenance (mowing, seeding, fertilizing) program, setup of goals, lining of fields, and assessment of game fields.  Note: mowing will be accomplished by county maintenance or contractor.  Lining of fields may be accomplished by contractor, volunteers, or field manager.
    • Time involved (varied): set up of fields – 1 hour per field, lining of fields – 20 minutes per field per week, mowing – varied.
  • Uniform Manager (Clinic and/or County):
    • Responsible for inventory, ordering, and distribution of jerseys, shorts, and socks for clinic and/or county programs.  Works closely with soccer coordinators and finance manager to budget and order uniforms. 
    • Time involved (10 hours/season): inventory – 1 hour, ordering – 1 hour, distribution – 4 hours.
  • Clinic Coordinator:  
    • Responsible for clinic program for players ages 4-7.  Coordinator will identify coaches, build teams and set practice and game schedules.   Coordinator will be responsible for daily operation of clinic including cancellation of practices and postponement/rescheduling of games.   
    • Time involved (30 hours/season): set up of teams – 20 hours, scheduling – 1 hour, operation of schedule - 1 hour per week.
  • County Coordinator:
    • Responsible for county program for players ages 8-17. Coordinator will work with commissioner to identify coaches, build teams, and set practice schedules. Coordinator will ensure team rosters and player contracts are completed. Coordinator or commissioner will attend County Soccer meetings and scheduling meetings. Coordinator will consult playability of game fields and coordinate field closings with county and clinic coordinator.
    • Time involved (30 hours/season): set up of teams – 20 hours, paperwork – 1 hour, operation of schedule - 1 hour per week, meetings (if no league rep) � 14 hours.
