SRYA Baseball
Our mission is to teach our youth to play and compete in the game of Baseball in a dependable, suitable and proper manner. We are determined to promote, encourage, direct and operate an athletic program for the children and youth of the South River area, Anne Arundel County, Maryland. The association shall also strive to promote ideals of good citizenship as well as good sportsmanship through our athletic programs and activities, and for the benefit of the community. We hope to give our players the best opportunity to eventually feed into South River High.
We offer 3 levels of play for baseball depending on age and skill level:
Clinic: T-Ball (Ages 4-6) & Coach Pitch (Ages 6-8)
County: Player Pitch at 10U, 12U, 15U & 18U Levels
Travel: For Elite Players. Offered at various age groups, and requires try-outs for placement.
County/Rec teams will compete in the Anne Arundel County Parks and Recreation league in all age groups, playing against other youth organizations throughout the county. T-Ball will play 'in house' against other SYRA teams. Coach Pitch/8U will play 'in house' against other SRYA teams in the Spring, and in the Fall will play County against other Anne Arundel County area teams. Travel teams can play in the league appropriate to their skill level and in tournaments that are assigned by the Head Coach.
*For Clinic & County/Rec Level, age determination date is August 31st of the upcoming Spring Season.
*For Travel Level, age determination date is April 30th. Players cannot turn the age over their current travel team BEFORE this date.
Please register for the level that best fits your child's age and/or experience. Register for the highest level of play that does not exceed his or her age level. Once you register, updates will be sent to you via e-mail. You can request for your player to play-up through registration.
There are two independent seasons each year: Fall and Spring. In the Fall, practices typically start the week prior to Labor Day, with games typically played on Sundays from mid-September through first weekend in November. For the Spring, teams typically start practice in early March, and begin play in early April through Mid-June. In some cases, depending on # of teams and players we will do player evaluations. Once we form teams no refunds are made for players that decide to not play in the season, outside of extreme circumstances such as injury or family illness etc.
We are always looking for volunteers to coach, while knowledge of the game is great it is not always necessary! We will help create practice plans and coaching kits to make it easy! Please email the commissioner at baseball@srya.org for more details.
